North West Makes Instagram Debut Despite Kanye West’s Past Disapproval

North West is keeping up with her Instagram account.

Okay, so North West officially has her own Instagram! As someone who keeps a close eye on pop culture and style, I was so excited to see her make her debut with a really chic post. It’s definitely a moment – the next generation is stepping into the social media spotlight!

In a recent photo, North West posed for the camera, making peace signs and looking off to the side. She shared the picture on December 19th with the caption, “first post.”

The 12-year-old expressed her love for fashion in a photo, wearing a black mini skirt, a cool t-shirt, and sparkly boots. She completed the look with bold, eye-catching jewelry.

Despite her Instagram profile stating it’s managed by her parents, Kanye – who shares children Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, with Kim – has criticized Kim in the past for letting their kids use social media.

In a 2022 video, the rapper explained he’d asked Kim to stop provoking him with posts on TikTok.

The comments followed a TikTok video posted by North, then 8 years old, and her cousin Penelope Disick. The video showed them singing along to the song “Emo Girl” by Machine Gun Kelly. North and her mother, Kim, had started a shared TikTok account in 2021.

He explained, “I’m her father, and I understand people don’t always value fathers or the importance of family. The media often pushes a different agenda. But I told them, I won’t let TikTok or Disney exploit my daughter. I have a right to protect her and have a say in what happens.”

Kim responded to his comments just hours later.

Kim Kardashian expressed that Kanye West’s public criticisms of her are more upsetting than anything their daughter, North, might share on TikTok. She explained that, as the primary caregiver, she’s trying to both shield their daughter and let her enjoy creative outlets like TikTok, as long as it’s done safely with adult guidance, because it makes North happy.

Kim has publicly shared that she supports her oldest daughter’s fashion choices, which lately have included bleached eyebrows and a finger piercing.

Kim explained to Alex Cooper on the October 15th episode of Call Her Daddy that she fully supports her daughter’s self-expression. She said, ‘If she wants blue hair, that’s her choice,’ emphasizing that she would never stifle her daughter’s creativity or anything that makes her happy.

Kim explained that her daughter is very self-assured. She’ll confidently say something like, ‘I don’t care if people don’t like my hair or anything else about me,’ and she wouldn’t want to spend time with anyone who criticizes her.
