Movies about clever con artists have always been popular, and it’s fun to watch them trick people. It’s no surprise Meghan Markle enjoys them! The upcoming film, likely titled ‘Now You See Me 3′, brings back the Four Horsemen – a group of skilled performers and illusionists who use their talents to target and expose corrupt individuals. Though they were thought to be retired, a new trio of illusionists – Charlie, Bosco, and June – begin using the Horsemen’s style to pull off their own cons. Like the original team, they take a Robin Hood approach, stealing from the rich and redistributing the wealth – after taking a share for themselves, of course.
It’s no surprise that J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), the leader of the original Four Horsemen, takes notice when a new trio of illusionists starts using their act and reputation to draw crowds. He’s not pleased, and soon both teams end up working together to steal a valuable diamond, the Heart, from the ruthless businesswoman Veronika Vanderburg (Rosamund Pike), bringing a touch of South African flair to the villainous role. What follows is a delightfully complicated story filled with twists and turns as the teams travel the globe, using their skills to pull off elaborate schemes and facing increasingly dangerous situations – and, just like the previous films, nothing is quite as it appears.
The movie is full of twists and turns as the characters deceive each other while pulling off elaborate illusions. Director Ruben Fleischer films it all seamlessly, revealing how the scams work through flashbacks – even if they require a bit of suspension of disbelief, it’s always entertaining. One standout scene features both teams trying to outsmart each other with tricks and illusions, all captured in a single, continuous shot that moves smoothly between characters.
It feels like this new, younger team signals a shift towards future films and attracting a new generation of viewers. While the original four horsemen now share the spotlight with three new members – meaning less screen time for Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, and Woody Harrelson – a rivalry between the original team and these new illusionists could have created even more excitement. However, even with some unbelievable illusions, Now You See Me 3 still manages to keep audiences entertained.
