NTAs 2025 shortlist confirmed as two Adolescence co-stars go head-to-head

In 2025, the National Television Awards will once more unite the world of entertainment to honor the cream of the crop in British television, celebrating excellence across various genres.

After the announcement of the longlist in May, the public’s votes have been tallied, and now, the nominees for the awards have been disclosed (or made public).

Five prominent productions are in the running for the title of this Year’s Best Drama, with “Adolescence” earning a spot on the list due to its widespread acclaim throughout the year.

In a head-to-head competition, Jilly Cooper’s popular novel “Rivals” will square off against the Netflix series, while the gangster saga “MobLand” and crime dramas “Code of Silence” and “Ludwig” will also enter the fray.

In the Drama Performance classification, it’s a generational showdown between a dad and his son, as 17-year-old Owen Cooper is nominated for his gripping portrayal in the widely praised Netflix series “Adolescence”, sharing the spotlight with fellow actor Stephen Graham.

In the upcoming productions, they’ll square off against Tom Hardy in MobLand, Rose Ayling-Ellis in Code of Silence, and Brenda Blethyn for what appears to be her poignant last case as Vera.

Could Alison Hammond, Claudia Winkleman, Stacey Solomon, or Gary Lineker potentially win the TV Presenter category this time around, dethroning Ant and Dec who currently hold 23 victories in that category?

In the exciting realm of Quiz Shows, I find myself drawn to a fascinating lineup for this year. Among them are Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Richard Osman’s House of Games, The 1% Club, and the gripping The Chase. Each promises an engaging experience that could potentially lead me to victory!

On the same special evening, the Special Recognition Award is set to be given out, with Joel Dommett once again presiding as the event’s host at The O2 in London. Tune into ITV on September 10th, starting at 8pm, for a live broadcast of the event.
