After a long time of speculation, NVIDIA is now focusing on laptops. But this isn’t about their graphics cards โ they’ve created a completely new processor that’s built to run Windows on Arm-based systems.
Talk about NVIDIA potentially making its own computer chips for Windows PCs started gaining traction in 2023. A more substantial leak appeared in July 2025 โ a benchmark result showing performance data. Recently, reports from DigiTimes suggest that manufacturers are preparing to release laptops powered by the NVIDIA N1X chip in early 2026.
A recent data leak from Huang514613 offers a glimpse at the potential PC specifications. The information wasn’t difficult to find for those willing to look through support files.
Lenovo’s website for its “Legion Space” software lists all the Legion gaming laptops it supports. While the list mainly includes standard models with Intel and AMD processors, one entry stands out as different.
The Legion 7 15N1X11 is unique because its product number doesn’t indicate an Intel or AMD processor. This strongly suggests it uses NVIDIA’s N1X system-on-a-chip (SoC).
Huang514613 shared another post on X, detailing more Lenovo products that have been revealed. Here’s what they listed:
- Ideapad Slim 5 14N1V11
- Ideapad Slim 5 16N1V11
- Yoga Pro 7 15N1V11
- Yoga Pro 7 15N1X11
- Yoga 9 2-in-1 16N1X11
Recent leaks suggest NVIDIA’s N1X chip isn’t just for desktops, which is a surprise to many. While it might still appear in desktop computers, its confirmed arrival in laptops โ including the 15-inch Legion 7 and 16-inch Yoga 9 2-in-1 โ is particularly noteworthy.
Currently, details about the N1X are based on leaks and rumors. However, the information available suggests it will be powerful enough for mobile PC gaming, creative tasks, and artificial intelligence applications.
If the N1X chip is the same one found in NVIDIA’s DGX Spark, it boasts 20 ARM cores and a Blackwell graphics chip with 6,144 CUDA cores. This combination could potentially deliver performance comparable to the RTX 5070 desktop graphics card. If this is accurate, the N1X would be one of the most powerful integrated graphics processors available in any laptop.
Microsoft is working on a major Windows 11 update, expected in early 2026, that will lay the groundwork for new processors like the Snapdragon X2 and NVIDIA N1X. This update, known as 26H1, represents a complete overhaul of the operating system’s core, moving it to a new platform called Bromine โ aligning with recent speculation about the N1X’s release.
This week, Microsoft began publicly supporting its Xbox app for PC on Windows devices using Arm processors. They say their Prism technology now lets you play around 85% of the games offered through their subscription service.
