According to recent whispers, the launch of NVIDIA’s latest GPUs, the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti, is reportedly delayed.
As an analyst, I’d like to clarify that contrary to initial expectations, even by our board partners, the launch of the mid-range desktop GPUs has been shifted from March to April and May of 2025.
Information about potential delays from NVIDIA was shared, originating from a post on the Board Channels forum by user HXL, and later reinforced by this user. This news was initially reported by Videocardz.
It’s been proposed that NVIDIA may have communicated to their board partners about a potential postponement, given that they hadn’t formally declared a launch date beforehand.
As a researcher, I’ve come across whispers suggesting that there will be two variants of the RTX 5060 Ti: one sporting 8GB VRAM and another boasting 16GB. The anticipated release dates are April for these high-performance models, with the standard RTX 5060 non-Ti model following suit in May.
This week, I’ve been on the edge of my seat, anxiously anticipating any news about the NVIDIA RTX 5060 GPU during GDC/GTC. Now that the announcement has been made, I can finally relax and catch my breath.
It’s important to note that the reported launch dates for April and May are merely speculation. NVIDIA may choose to delay these dates or bring them forward depending on various other influencing factors.
The introduction of NVIDIA’s RTX 5000 hasn’t gone as planned. Despite issues such as overheating power cords, lacking ROPs (Raster Operator Units), problematic drivers, among others, NVIDIA has found it challenging to meet the product’s demand.
This situation has given scalpers ample room to operate, and making matters worse is the increase in Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for NVIDIA’s GPUs, causing them to be sold at hundreds of dollars above their estimated price.
Should the rumors prove accurate and NVIDIA delays the launch of its RTX 5060 GPUs, I sincerely hope that Team Green utilizes this additional time to meticulously inspect every GPU and increase availability at retailers.
Among NVIDIA’s 60-category graphics cards, the RTX 4060 model stands as the most widely used GPU, according to Steam’s hardware survey. Following closely behind in popularity are the RTX 3060 and the RTX 4060 Ti models.
Essentially, it seems that the popularity of NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti is expected to outshine the demand for the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070.
