Horror fans have enjoyed a strong year in 2025, and the first look at the movie ‘Obsession‘ suggests 2026 will be just as exciting.
A man desperately trying to win over the woman he loves breaks a magical willow tree said to grant wishes. He gets exactly what he wished for, but quickly learns that even true love can come with terrible consequences.
The movie features Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, and Megan Lawless. It’s directed and written by Curry Barker, who previously made several short films but this is his debut feature-length project. Remarkably, the film was made with a budget of less than a million dollars, but after a competitive bidding process, it was picked up for distribution for over $15 million.
I’ve noticed the title ‘Obsession’ has been used before, especially in Brian De Palma’s fantastic 1976 film which was clearly inspired by Hitchcock’s ‘Vertigo’. But honestly, this new ‘Obsession’ trailer makes it look like it’s going to be something completely different – and I’m really intrigued!
