At the 10th anniversary celebration for Kojima Productions’ ‘Beyond the Strand’ event, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, appeared with Hideo Kojima to reveal a new trailer for their game, *OD*, called ‘KNOCK’. You can watch the trailer below.
The game “KNOCK” blends Hideo Kojima’s take on horror with input from writer Jordan Peele. Gameplay footage shows text cards with hidden words, hinting at a story set ten years after a frightening event, where those affected are experiencing trouble ‘once again.’ The main character, played by Sophia Lillis, receives a card instructing her to ‘light the fires’ as part of a celebration.
As she walked into the room filled with candles, she started lighting them one by one. Just then, a baby began to cry. The knocking at the door grew more insistent, and soon, something entered. It reached out and touched Lillis’s face, and the scene went dark.
Kojima confirmed the shown gameplay was captured directly within the game engine, and the scene featuring Lillis wasn’t a pre-rendered cutscene. Spencer added that Xbox is providing support to the development team, specifically with the technical aspects of Unreal Engine, with the ultimate aim of realizing Kojima’s creative vision and making the game available to everyone when it’s finished.
OD doesn’t have a release date, but it’s currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
