Halloween 2025 is seeing a huge surge in popularity for superhero themes, from DC and Marvel characters to broader comic book interests. Celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter are also enthusiastically embracing this trend.
A 26-year-old recently shared her creative Halloween costume inspired by Wonder Woman, specifically referencing the iconic look made famous by Lynda Carter. Carter herself quickly noticed the tribute and responded on X (formerly Twitter):
The veteran superhero playfully addressed the recent discussion about Wonder Woman’s hair color, saying, “I’ve noticed the debate about whether Wonder Woman is a brunette.” She then added a reminder that “Wonder Woman exists within everyone, and sometimes, that means she has blonde hair!” Carter’s response to this post from Carpenter is still pending.
Lynda Carter famously played Wonder Woman on television in 1976, creating a version of the character that remains incredibly popular and well-remembered. The show originally aired on ABC from 1976 to 1977, then moved to CBS and continued until 1979.
The popular actress is well-known for her work as Wonder Woman and has continued to appear in other DC projects to honor that role. Notably, she played Asteria in Wonder Woman 1984, and it’s been said that her character was originally planned to have a bigger part in a third Wonder Woman movie before those plans were cancelled.
James Gunn’s DC Universe is getting a fresh look at the Wonder Woman story. DC Studios is currently developing a new, standalone Wonder Woman movie, with Ana Nogueira, who worked on Supergirl, writing the script. They haven’t hired a director yet.
As a huge DC fan, I’m really excited about what DC Studios is doing with Wonder Woman! They’re planning a TV show called Paradise Lost that’s a prequel, showing us the world she came from years before she even joined the Justice League. It’s still early days, though – they’re currently working on the script, so we’ll have to wait to see how it all shapes up.
Patty Jenkins, the director of the Wonder Woman movies starring Gal Gadot, has hinted she might be open to directing future films about the character. Currently, DC Studios hasn’t chosen a new actress to play Wonder Woman.
For now, the DCU’s Wonder Woman reboot has yet to land a release date.
