Oh Dear, LVMH in a Tangle Over NFT Watch Tech 🤭

In the most delightful of legal spats, dear reader, the dashing Watch Skins Corporation has taken the grand LVMH to court over a spot of patent bother.

On the 10th of March, in a Texas federal court no less, Watch Skins Corporation tossed a complaint at LVMH, suggesting the latter had rather rudely nicked their “revolutionary NFT display technology” without so much as a by-your-leave.

Watch Skins, with a twinkle in their eye, asserts they’ve cooked up a jolly good system for showcasing verified NFT artworks on one’s smartwatch, and they’ve got the patents to prove it!

Allegedly, the LVMH-owned TAG Heuer and other chums in the conglomerate’s stable have been using this NFT display tech without a please or thank you, based on three patents that belong to Watch Skins. The cheek of it!

LVMH, that splendid multinational holding company, is no stranger to luxury, what with brands like Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, and Christian Dior under its belt. And now, a spot of controversy to add to the collection!

Watch Skins regales us with tales of three patents: one for verifying NFT ownership before a watch face display, another for blockchain wallet verification, and a third for fetching and showing off customized watch faces based on NFT ownership.

It seems TAG Heuer has been encouraging its customers to dabble in a bit of patent infringement, providing instructions on how to use these NFT display features. How very naughty!

“The watch allows the NFT to be displayed if owned by the user’s crypto wallet,” the complaint says, with a wink and a nod. “It connects to a user’s crypto wallet to guarantee authenticity of works displayed.” How positively modern!

Watch Skins is asking for a jury trial, and they want their lost profits and royalties, please and thank you. And a court order to stop LVMH from using their patented technology. How very ungentlemanly of LVMH, if true!

Watch Skins, in a grand gesture, announced the world’s first blockchain NFT watch face marketplace at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in 2020. They promised an app that lets consumers buy “authentic, licensed smartwatch faces from their favorite brands.” How splendid!

CryptoMoon, ever the busy bee, has buzzed off to contact LVMH for a comment. Stay tuned for the fireworks, dear readers!
