Olivia Wilde doesn’t need to please all the critics—just these two.
Before her new movie, The Invite—where she acts with Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz—is released, she revealed that her children, 11-year-old Otis and 9-year-old Daisy, whom she shares with her ex, Jason Sudeikis, were the first to see it. She uses them as a test audience to get their initial reactions.
Olivia shared with Will Marfuggi from TopMob News, in an interview at the January 23rd premiere of I Want Your Sex, that her family is very involved in her work. The film was an official selection of the Premieres section at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. She said they always ask for her opinions on everything, want details about her projects and the people involved, and aren’t afraid to offer honest criticism.
The 41-year-old, who separated from Jason in 2020, revealed that they played a role in her new movie, which premiered at Sundance on January 24th and received a standing ovation.
Olivia playfully said her kids had been exposed to things they weren’t supposed to. They’d watched a lot of her movie, The Invite, because she was often editing it while they were around, and she felt they’d seen way too much of it.
Although her children weren’t at Sundance to see the completed film, she expects to bring them as her guests next time.
“They would love it,” the House alum assured. “This is the best part of Hollywood right here.”
Film festivals have played a key role in Olivia’s career ever since her first film, Booksmart, premiered at SXSW in 2019. Even though her second film, Don’t Worry Darling, generated a lot of attention and drama, beginning at its premiere in Venice in 2022, she says she wouldn’t change anything about the path her career has taken.

She said things are constantly improving. She’s found life increasingly fascinating, and every experience – both positive and negative – has helped her grow, given her valuable skills, and allowed her to truly savor moments like this, which she feels are the best possible.
Olivia believes film festivals represent the best possible way to launch a movie, explaining that at that moment, there are no other competing releases to distract audiences.
