One Battle After Another’s Chase Infiniti Was Obsessed With One Leonardo DiCaprio Film Growing Up (And It Wasn’t Titanic)

Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is generating a lot of buzz as a potential frontrunner for best movie of 2025. But it’s also significant as the first film role for actress Chase Infiniti. She plays Willa Ferguson, the daughter of DiCaprio’s character, who is kidnapped by a military officer with a past connection to her mother. Interestingly, Infiniti hadn’t even seen DiCaprio’s famous movie Titanic before being cast, though she was a fan of another one of his films and was excited to work with him.

Chase Infiniti is promoting her critically acclaimed film, One Battle After Another, which has received numerous awards, including eight Golden Globe nominations. She’s nominated for Best Actress – Musical or Comedy at the upcoming awards ceremony. In a recent interview with W Magazine, she was asked if she had seen Titanic before her first screen test with Leonardo DiCaprio.

I hadn’t watched Titanic yet when this happened, though I’ve seen it since. But Catch Me If You Can is a movie I absolutely love, so I was incredibly excited to meet Frank Abagnale Jr. in person.

I finally got around to watching Titanic, and honestly, better late than never! If you’re like me and somehow missed it, or you just feel like revisiting that classic Kate Winslet romance, it’s available on Netflix or Paramount+. But what really made my day was her mentioning Catch Me If You Can. I actually saw that one before Titanic, and I totally get why she brought it up – it’s a fantastic film!

Directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 2002, Catch Me If You Can tells the story of Frank Abagnale Jr., a former con artist. The film is based on Abagnale’s own account of his life. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the young Abagnale, who successfully posed as a pilot, doctor, and lawyer – all before becoming an adult – and swindled millions. The movie also features Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, and other talented actors like Martin Sheen, Nathalie Baye, Amy Adams, and James Brolin. You can watch Catch Me If You Can on Paramount+.

Although Catch Me If You Can isn’t a hidden gem, it often gets overlooked when people talk about Leonardo DiCaprio’s best movies. It was fun to see Chase Infiniti so excited about him because of that role! Now, though, they share an even stronger connection thanks to working together on One Battle After Another, especially since DiCaprio is nominated for a Golden Globe this year.

We’ll find out how well One Battle After Another performs at the 83rd Golden Globes when the awards show airs this Sunday on CBS and Paramount+. Chase Infiniti is also working on a new coming-of-age drama called The Julia Set, with filming starting later this year. She’s currently starring in The Testaments, a spinoff of The Handmaid’s Tale, which will premiere on TV in April 2026. Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to appear in Heat 2, though details about his character haven’t been revealed yet.
