One Hit Horror Franchise Is Absolutely Dominating HBO Max Right Now

On HBO Max, you’ll find a horrifying selection of content. The newly rebranded streaming service is already housing the “The Conjuring” Universe and the “IT” series, with fresh additions coming soon – “The Conjuring: Last Rites” in September and “IT: Welcome to Derry” in October. However, one more legendary horror franchise has managed to outshine recent arrivals like “Sinners”, “Death of a Unicorn”, and “Opus” by taking the leading position on HBO Max.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to announce that “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” the sixth jaw-dropping chapter of this death-defying series, has taken the No. 1 spot on the HBO Max Top 10! Despite its brief stint in movie theaters, this chilling horror masterpiece raked in an impressive $285 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing installment in the 25-year-old franchise when it graced our screens in May. Now, starting from August 1, you can catch it exclusively on HBO Max!

The addition of “Bloodlines” to New Line’s streaming service led to an increase in viewings for the “Final Destination” films: the initial 2000 “Final Destination” ranks at #7, followed closely by “Final Destination 5” from 2011 at #8 and “Final Destination 2” from 2003 at #10. Interestingly, only “Final Destination 3” from 2006 and “The Final Destination,” or “Final Destination 4” from 2009, failed to make it into the Top 10 list.

You can now stream all six “Final Destination” films together in one spot, as part of HBO Max’s “Follow Death’s Design” collection. Moreover, the series “Bloodlines” made its debut on HBO, having been broadcasted in a marathon of “Final Destination” movies that aired on traditional TV over the weekend.

The upcoming film focuses on college student Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), who is tormented by a persistent nightmare of a violent nature. Her uncanny premonitions compel her to seek out her estranged grandmother, Iris (portrayed by Brec Bassinger and Gabrielle Rose), who shares the same gift of foresight. Iris might hold the key to ending this ominous cycle and safeguarding her family from the impending doom that seems unavoidable for all involved. The ensemble also includes Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Rya Kihlstedt, and the late Tony Todd, who reprises his role as William Bludworth in what appears to be his last screen appearance.

Adam Stein, the director of the most recent installment in the long-rested “Final Destination” series, shared with ComicBook his thoughts on the possibility of a “Final Destination 7”. He stated that the concept has shown timeless relevance and indeed continues to do so. The unique structure of the franchise allows it to fit seamlessly into various genres, even in period pieces, which might not have initially seemed suitable. In this case, the focus could be on a family.
