A highly anticipated PC game launching in 2025 is now officially verified for the Steam Deck. It was previously listed as “Playable,” but now Valve has fully tested it and confirmed it runs smoothly from beginning to end with no adjustments needed for the Deck’s screen or controls. While this support comes almost five months after the game’s initial release, it’s still welcome news for players.
Good news for Steam Deck owners who were waiting for official support! Borderlands 4, the latest installment in the Borderlands series, has now been verified and runs well on the Steam Deck. The game launched on September 12th with initial support for only a few platforms, meaning it didn’t work on devices like the Steam Deck or PS5 Pro at first. Now, Steam Deck players can finally enjoy the game, and the developers have consistently expanded platform support.
One of 2025’s Best-Selling Games
Although Borderlands 4 didn’t receive the highest review scores in 2025, it was a huge commercial success. It ranked as the third best-selling game of the year in the United States, following only NBA 2K26 and Battlefield 6. While reviews weren’t outstanding, they were generally positive, with a Metacritic score of 81. This score is a bit lower than previous Borderlands titles, but still respectable and consistent with our own positive assessment of the game’s chaotic, post-apocalyptic world and loot-driven gameplay.
However, the game’s Steam user reviews tell a different story. Currently, it has a “Mixed” rating, with only 63% of over 39,000 reviews being positive. Many negative reviews point to poor PC optimization and performance issues, which is especially concerning for a game that’s been out for five months and for those considering playing it on the Steam Deck.
Steam Deck owners hoping for a discount on the new Verified game will be disappointed. The game is launching at full price – $69.99 – for those playing on the handheld device.
