Next year looks set to be huge for video games, with highly anticipated titles like GTA 6 leading the charge. Many gamers are already planning for a busy 2026, especially the fall season, which is shaping up to be packed with major releases. Alongside GTA 6, we’ll see Marvel’s Wolverine, a new Call of Duty game, and likely some surprises. Recently, Phantom Blade Zero was confirmed to launch next fall, with a September release date announced at The Game Awards, and fans are now counting down the days.
Players have been eagerly anticipating the new RPG for a while. It’s a fast-paced action game that uniquely combines elements from various genres. It blends the intense combat of hack-and-slash games with the challenging style of the ‘Souls-like’ genre, helping it stand out. While many games have copied the ‘Souls-like’ formula, leading to a crowded market, Phantom Blade Zero aims to be truly different.
Phantom Blade Zero Will Be Exclusive to PS5 and PC for One Year

Initially, only players with a PlayStation 5 or PC will be able to play Phantom Blade Zero when it releases in September. While this is currently a limited release, it won’t be permanent. The game’s trailer mentioned a 12-month exclusivity period, meaning it could become available on other platforms after one year, though the developers ultimately decide. This is similar to what happened with Silent Hill 2, which launched on PS5 first and then quietly appeared on Xbox about 13 months later.
Not all games make it to every platform right away, or even at all. For example, Final Fantasy VII Remake is launching on Xbox next month, six years after it first came out – well after its initial deal with PlayStation had ended. There are many reasons why this happens, but Phantom Blade Zero is likely to appear on Xbox too, particularly if it’s successful on PlayStation 5 and PC. A strong launch on those platforms would make bringing it to Xbox a much more appealing decision.
