A major Nintendo Switch 2 game launching in 2026 appears to have been altered by Nintendo. New promotional artwork suggests changes are coming to the game, which is currently only available on PlayStation 5 but will be released on the Switch 2 in January 2025. It seems Nintendo requested these changes before the Switch 2 release.
The cover art for a recent issue of Dispatch has been altered, and it appears to be happening on both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, which is scheduled to release on January 28, 2026. It’s unclear whether Nintendo directly censored the art or if it was a preventative measure, but given Nintendo’s past actions, they were likely responsible. Although Nintendo has become less strict with censorship in recent years, examples still pop up on the eShop, and this seems to be another one.
What’s Been Censored
It’s still unclear if the full game has been altered, but the promotional materials definitely have. The game’s cover art, in particular, has been modified to give some of the female characters more modest outfits. They’ve also removed some content from one of the male characters – specifically, pubic hair. You can see a comparison of the changes below.

This change seems to be happening only in certain areas. It was first noticed on the American Nintendo eShop, but cover art still looks the same in other regions. This could change later, though. Also, fans believe some potentially suggestive content in Chapter 4 has definitely been modified.
It’s understandable that some fans are upset about the changes, as censorship is rarely well-received. However, others don’t mind, or even welcome it, given Nintendo’s image as a family-friendly company. Some have also noted a double standard, pointing out that male bodies are rarely censored, which is likely because they aren’t featured as provocatively in game marketing materials.
As of right now, neither the game’s developer, AdHoc Studio, nor Nintendo has responded to the recent censorship of Dispatch. We’ll update this article if they do, but with it being the Christmas season, a response is unlikely.
