Apple TV+ has confirmed that the popular series Shrinking will be back soon. The show, created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel, centers around Jimmy (played by Segel), a therapist and father coping with grief who starts taking a more hands-on approach with his patients. The cast also includes Harrison Ford as Paul Rhoades, Jessica Williams as Gaby, Lukita Maxwell as Jimmy’s daughter Alice, Christa Miller as his neighbor Liz, and Luke Tennie as Sean, a patient who moves in with Jimmy.

The third season of Shrinking premieres on Apple TV on January 28, 2026, starting with a one-hour-long first episode. The season will consist of eleven episodes, released weekly on Wednesdays, with the final episode airing on April 8. Alongside the show’s main stars, like Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams, Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox will appear as guests. Brett Goldstein, who also co-created the series and plays Louis Wilson, will be back in a recurring role. Cobie Smulders, known for How I Met Your Mother, will also return after her guest appearance in Season 2.

The show Shrinking has received widespread critical acclaim, earning Primetime Emmy nominations for both of its seasons. Notably, it secured Harrison Ford’s first-ever Emmy nomination. The American Film Institute even ranked Season 2 among the ten best TV series of 2024. Fans are particularly excited about Michael J. Fox’s upcoming guest role, as he has largely stepped away from acting due to his Parkinson’s disease.

Many viewers are wondering if Season 3 will be the end of Shrinking. The show’s creators have suggested the story is designed to wrap up over three seasons, but they’ve also mentioned ideas for a potential fourth season. Although their previous show, Ted Lasso, originally finished after three seasons, it’s now coming back for a fourth, so the future of Shrinking isn’t set in stone. Here’s what Bill Lawrence said about the show’s plans in early 2025:

We’re already working on Season 3 and having fun hiding clues about the storyline that will begin in Season 4. A great thing about streaming is the ability to create a story arc that unfolds over multiple seasons – a clear beginning, middle, and end. And if viewers connect with the characters, there are lots of possibilities for future stories.
