In my perspective as a follower, I was astonished when Absolute Superman revolutionized the comic book world by portraying Batman’s iconic adversary Ra’s al Ghul as the primary antagonist in its initial storylines. True to form, Absolute Universe preserved the essence of the Demon’s Head’s character but gave him a fresh makeover to align with the bleak and dystopian Earth he now inhabited. Rather than leading a secret assassin organization, Ra’s al Ghul was transformed into the CEO of Lazarus Corporation, a global entity that wielded more power than any single nation. Instead of aiming to make Batman his heir, this new corporate Ra’s sought to claim Superman as his son and harness his powers to purge the world of unwanted individuals. Now, another one of Batman’s villains has entered the scene to take down the Man of Tomorrow – Talia al Ghul, who it seems has been here for quite some time already.
An Uneasy Alliance
In his ongoing battle against the ruthless and relentlessly greedy corporation Lazarus Corp, Superman finds himself unexpectedly allied with The Omega Men, a group of rebels determined to bring down Lazarus at any cost. Although they’re working towards a common goal against great evil, their methods can be as merciless and inhumane as those of Lazarus, causing Superman concern about the growing animosity within him that makes him question saving an enemy soldier’s life. What’s more, Primus, their leader, is influenced by a Father Box – a weapon she claims is divinely ordained but is actually manufactured by Darkseid. The self-aware box seems to have ominous intentions for Superman, hinting at transforming him into a monster. Despite his reservations about the Omega Men, when Jimmy Olsen was kidnapped by Lazarus, Superman set aside his doubts and joined them in launching a rescue mission on their base.
As a passionate moviegoer, I must say that the latest action-packed spectacle featuring Superman was nothing short of extraordinary! This time around, Kal-El faced off against the formidable Lazarus army and, despite Metallo’s previous attempt on his life, our hero was determined to put an end to the chaos.
In a heartbeat, Superman reduced Metallo to a pathetic heap on the ground, demonstrating his unmatched power and determination. Yet, true to his principles, he refused to take a life, even when faced with adversaries who demanded he give in to hatred and destruction.
Enter Primus, who brought her people into the fray through the Boom Tube, insisting that Superman should embrace his anger and reshape the world with bloodshed. Ra’s al Ghul himself made an appearance, claiming Superman as his son and urging him to unleash his full potential. Metallo, who yearned for the throne once promised to him by Ra’s, pleaded to be allowed to fire his Kryptonite bullet.
However, it was Ra’s al Ghul who took matters into his own hands when he shot Metallo with the lethal weapon. Superman valiantly attempted to shield his enemy, but Kryptonite tore through his arm and struck Metallo’s head. Injured and disoriented, Superman prepared for retaliation – only to be betrayed by Primus, who revealed herself as Talia al Ghul, daughter of the Demon, and Superman’s new sister.
This thrilling installment showcases not only Superman’s incredible strength but also his unwavering moral compass in the face of immense pressure. I can’t wait to see what unfolds next in this gripping saga!
The Omega Men of Lazarus Corp
This disclosure about Talia’s identity significantly alters our perception of the Omega Men. Rather than being a group striving excessively to save the world, it appears that they were manipulated by Ra’s, serving as pawns to orchestrate rebellions according to his wishes. Talia accepted those who wished to challenge Lazarus’s tyranny, transforming them into instruments of destruction to discredit the concept of revolution. Instead of freedom fighters, she turned them into terrorists more concerned with death than liberating people. She indoctrinated them with her father’s ideologies and those of Darkseid, using the Father Box to disseminate these ideas to them. When Superman, a symbol of righteousness, arrived on Earth, Ra’s instructed Talia to provoke him by reminding him of the people Lazarus had destroyed. Almost succeeding in their mission, the Omega Men came close to completing their task, but Superman upheld his moral compass, leading them to resort to coercion instead.
After Superman was wounded by a stab, the Father Box signaled, and the last scene depicted him trembling intensely, with energy radiating from him as he convulsed. It’s possible that they’re draining him of his solar energy to make him powerless, or manipulating him to align with their cause. Regardless, Superman is now under their control, and their deception has been exposed. Superman faces a greater peril than ever before, but he now knows the identity of his adversaries. He’s not giving up yet.
