One of DreamWorks’ Best Franchises Just Found a New Streaming Home

Since its start with the film Antz in 1998, DreamWorks Animation has become a leading animation studio, competing with major names like Disney and Pixar. They’ve created incredibly popular and successful franchises such as Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda, which continue to expand. Now, as DreamWorks looks ahead to future projects like Forgotten Island and Shrek 5, fans have a convenient way to enjoy one of their favorite franchises with all the movies available in one streaming location.

All three How to Train Your Dragon movies—How to Train Your Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World—became available on Peacock on January 1st. The critically acclaimed trilogy tells the story of Hiccup, a young Viking who becomes friends with a unique dragon named Toothless, and now the entire series is available on the NBCUniversal streaming service, including the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon film set to release in 2025.

DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon Franchise Keeps Soaring

It was hard to imagine how popular the How to Train Your Dragon series would become. Released in 2010 alongside other major animated hits like Pixar’s Toy Story 3, Disney’s Tangled, and the incredibly successful Despicable Me, How to Train Your Dragon quickly became DreamWorks’ most financially successful and critically acclaimed franchise.

The How to Train Your Dragon movies are consistently excellent, with all four films receiving high praise for their stories, animation, and emotional impact. Each movie is “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes, even the third, which still boasts an impressive 87% audience score. This epic fantasy appeals to viewers of all ages and remarkably maintains its quality throughout the series. It expertly blends thrilling action and adventure with the heartwarming story of Hiccup and Toothless’s friendship, all brought to life with beautiful animation and a captivating Viking setting.

Good news for fans! After the huge success of the 2025 live-action How to Train Your Dragon – it was the highest-grossing film in the series and one of the year’s biggest hits – DreamWorks is making another live-action movie. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is scheduled to fly into theaters on June 11, 2027.

What’s New on Peacock?

I was so excited to see that all three How to Train Your Dragon movies are now streaming on Peacock! They just added a ton of stuff on January 1st, and along with Dragon, they also included other favorites like Shark Tale and Abominable. It’s a great time to be a movie fan – they’ve got everything from classics like All Dogs Go to Heaven to more recent hits like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and The Maze Runner, plus fun ones like 17 Again!
