Now is a great time for action movie lovers! The genre is performing really well on streaming services, with some unexpected films becoming very popular. For example, *Ice Road: Vengeance*, a sequel to Liam Neeson’s *The Ice Road* from 2021, recently appeared on Netflix and quickly rose to the top 10. But it’s not just that surprise hit – another sequel, the third movie in its series, is also drawing viewers in with thrilling action and suspense, and it’s available to watch for free.
Gerard Butler returns as Mike Banning in *Angel Has Fallen*, the third movie in the *Has Fallen* series after *Olympus Has Fallen* (2013) and *London Has Fallen* (2016). Also starring Morgan Freeman, Jada Pinkett Smith, and the late Lance Riddick, the 2019 action film is now available to watch for free on Tubi and has unexpectedly become one of the platform’s most popular titles.
In *Angel Has Fallen*, Gerard Butler plays Secret Service agent Mike Banning, who finds himself wrongly accused of attempting to kill the President, Allan Trumbull (played by Morgan Freeman). The movie received mixed reviews upon its release six years ago, but it was a financial success, earning $146 million globally. It’s a fast-paced action film, and although it’s currently popular on Tubi, viewers can also stream it for free on Pluto and The Roku Channel.
Angel Has Fallen’s Streaming Success Could Bode Well For Future Installments
Following the release of *Angel Has Fallen*, plans were made for several sequels and even TV shows. In 2020, a fourth film, *Night Has Fallen*, was confirmed with Gerard Butler returning as Mike Banning, but updates have been scarce since then. However, *Angel Has Fallen* recently performed well on streaming services, demonstrating continued audience interest in Banning’s story and the familiar action formula fans enjoy from these films. This success could provide the momentum needed to move forward with future installments and give audiences more of the political thriller action they want.
Angel Has Fallen is now streaming for free on Tubi.
