Tubi is a popular free streaming service, especially for those who love shows from the 1990s and 2000s. In early March, they added over a dozen classic Cartoon Network shows like Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy and Courage the Cowardly Dog. While Tubi plans to add even more nostalgic titles, they will soon be removing a beloved cartoon from Nickelodeon.
As a big fan of classic Nicktoons, I was excited to see Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius available on Tubi back in March. But sadly, it’s already been marked for removal – they haven’t said exactly when it’ll be gone, though. It’s such a special film – it was even nominated for the very first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature! And, of course, it’s what launched The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius, the TV show that I (and a lot of people!) loved watching on Nickelodeon for three seasons, from 2002 to 2006. The movie itself is a blast – it’s about Jimmy, a super-smart kid, who accidentally launches a satellite into space and then has to team up with his friends and their robot dog to rescue their parents from a crazy cosmic adventure.
Nickelodeon’s Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius Is a Definitive 2000s Nostalgia Staple
Even after 25 years, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius remains a defining movie of the early 2000s and a key example of early CGI animation. With a 74% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film cleverly combined imaginative science fiction with relatable childhood issues, creating a fast-paced and funny adventure filled with memorable moments – especially those ‘Brain Blast’ scenes. The movie and TV series introduced beloved characters like Carl Wheezer and Goddard the robot dog, and Jimmy himself was a uniquely charming character – a brilliant inventor who also dealt with the everyday struggles of being a kid.
Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius was a groundbreaking show for Nickelodeon, being their first to use CGI animation. It became a huge franchise with a popular TV series, spin-offs, shorts, and video games. Even now, Jimmy Neutron remains one of Nickelodeon’s most successful and memorable creations, especially for Millennials and Gen Z. Excitingly, there’s talk of a sequel movie potentially bringing Jimmy Neutron back to the big screen!
Where to Stream Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius After It Leaves Tubi?
It’s getting harder to find classic shows from Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network on streaming services, but fans of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius are in luck! While the movie will eventually be removed from Tubi, it’s coming to Paramount+ in January, ensuring it remains available to stream. Along with the movie, all 64 episodes of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius are also on Paramount+, alongside other beloved Nickelodeon series like The Wild Thornberrys, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and CatDog.
