A major Nintendo game released in 2025 has been updated to run better on the Switch 2. When the Switch 2 launched in June, players noticed some games from the original Switch didn’t work as smoothly on the new system, even though they were compatible. Nintendo has been working to fix these issues, and they’ve now improved performance for one of their biggest games from earlier in the year.
This week, an update was released for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition to fix problems players experienced on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game, a remastered version of the Wii U title, launched on Switch in March to positive reception. However, players who tried it on the Switch 2 a few months later reported issues, specifically with character voices falling out of sync. Nintendo says this frustrating bug, along with other previously identified problems, has now been addressed with the new update.
Although Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition experienced significant performance issues on the Switch 2, it wasn’t the only game affected. Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, also had several bugs when played on the new console. Nintendo recently released an update for Super Mario 3D All-Stars that appears to have resolved most of these issues, much to the relief of fans.
As a Nintendo fan, I’m expecting we’ll keep seeing these small updates for Switch games pop up over time. Eventually, I really hope all the Switch games that can work on the new Switch 2 will run just as smoothly as they do now. But honestly, it’ll probably take a while, so if you’re holding out for a specific game to get updated, you might need to be patient!
