A popular PlayStation game that recently came to PC and Steam is now officially “Verified” for the Steam Deck. While the game has been playable on the handheld device since its release about a month ago, “Verified” status means Valve has tested it and confirms it runs smoothly from beginning to end with the Steam Deck’s screen and controls. The verification process isn’t extremely thorough, so it’s unclear what improvements, if any, have been made, or how well the game currently performs on the device.
Good news for Steam Deck users: Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is now officially verified as playable on the device. Kojima Productions announced this on their X account, but hasn’t yet shared specifics about how the game has been improved for Steam Deck compared to the original PC version.
One of 2025’s Best Games
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a standout game of 2025 and a highlight for PlayStation consoles of this generation. It’s received critical acclaim, boasting an 89 score on Metacritic and seven nominations at The Game Awards. Our own review awarded the Hideo Kojima game a perfect score.
Death Stranding 2, the follow-up to the 2019 game Death Stranding, is considered best experienced on PC. The PC version includes features and improvements not found on PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro. Players agree, giving it an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam – the platform’s highest possible score – with 95% of 3,415 reviews expressing approval.
Steam Deck owners eager to play the open-world adventure game can now do so, as it’s been verified for the device. However, it’s still priced at its original $70. PlayStation rarely offers discounts on its PC games, so don’t expect a price drop until the holidays.
