Since the release of Stalker: Call of Pripyat in 2009, we have been patiently waiting for a new installment in the series (and it was as amazing and flawed as always). Now, it seems that there is an abundance of Stalker-related content available: significant updates for Stalker 2, remastered versions of the entire original collection, and most recently, Stalker Anomaly has become compatible with GOG’s one-click modding platform.
Living now is quite thrilling, especially if you’re not fully acquainted with your Stalker mod developments. Frankly speaking, if that’s the case, there’s a hint of reproach due. However, let me enlighten you about an intriguing standalone mod named Stalker Anomaly. This mod serves as a precursor to Stalker 2 in a way, combining maps from all three original games into one expansive map for unbridled exploration. It’s packed with sandbox mechanics, such as an enhanced A-Life system and faction conflicts, allowing you to delve deep into the game world and interact dynamically with it.
Consider it like playing an early game where the ‘descriptive storyline’ feature is significantly reduced, while the ‘dynamic story creation’ feature is greatly enhanced. However, it’s important to note that Stalker Anomaly does offer its own campaign. Yet, the focus is predominantly on the sandbox aspect, highlighting the features that make these games stand out and different from others.
The game, Stalker 2, is tough, centered on survival, and has an element of legendary status. Upon its release last year, numerous fans likened it more to Anomaly than the earlier games in the series, although comparisons were also made to those as well. Since its release, it’s been regarded with a certain reverence within the Stalker community due to its deep exploration of the intricate systems that set these games apart and make them so peculiar and fascinating.

You clearly have an affinity for it, if my observation doesn’t miss the mark. Maybe you’ll share my sentiment too? Lucky for us, discovering this is now effortless, provided you possess either the Enhanced Edition or the original version of Call of Prypiat from GOG. The process is akin to any other mod installation within their platform: simply add it to your cart and install it as you would with any regular game, and you’re good to go!
