Even though many of Stephen King’s books and stories have already been made into movies and TV shows, he remains incredibly popular. Just this year, four films and two TV series based on his work were released. While King is known for horror, science fiction, and dark futures, a new adaptation released in 2025 is surprisingly different. It’s a heartwarming and moving story about life, and it’s now available to stream on Hulu.
I was so excited when Hulu added that new Stephen King series, The Life of Chuck, on December 26th! It’s from Mike Flanagan, the guy who did The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep, and it’s a really unique story. It tells a man’s life backwards, starting with his death – and even the end of the universe! It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before.
The movie features a fantastic cast, with Tom Hiddleston starring as the grown-up Chuck. Joining him are talented actors like Jacob Tremblay, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, and many other well-known names, including Mia Sara, Nick Offerman, Carl Lumbly, Kate Siegel, Matthew Millard, Rahul Kohli, Heather Lagenkamp, and David Dastmalchian.
Don’t expect a typical horror story when you see Stephen King’s name on The Life of Chuck. It’s closer in tone to his more heartwarming tales like The Shawshank Redemption or The Green Mile, although it’s still rated R and geared towards a slightly older audience.
Coming Soon to Hulu
Hulu added the new series The Life of Chuck on December 25th, wrapping up a year of content additions. And on December 31st, the streaming service will also release the horror film Together, starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco.
