One of Superman’s Deadliest Enemies Just Got Even More Dangerous

Superman is among the strongest superheroes ever, so it’s logical to assume any copies of him would possess similar strength, like Bizarro. Bizarro was created as an imperfect clone of Superman when he was struck by a duplicator ray that produced twisted replicas of whatever it encountered. Over the years, Bizarro has been one of Superman’s most formidable foes, matching him in strength and having reversed versions of his other powers. However, Bizarro was often held back due to his extreme lack of intelligence. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case as Bizarro has recently developed some level of intelligence and self-control, making him at least average. This normal Bizarro, armed with all his power, is easily one of the most dangerous individuals in the entire DC Universe. And it’s not just Bizarro; others like him are emerging, potentially posing a threat to the universe as a whole.

Trapped on Bizarro World

Issue #41 of Batman/Superman: World’s Finest begins with Robin in a desperate escape from a horde of Bizarro clones. Fortunately, both Batman and Superman appear just in time to aid him, yet even the trio struggle against the relentless wave of Bizarro replicas of Superman. As they flee, Batman clarifies that the Dynamic Duo were visiting Clark’s Fortress of Solitude when a portal unexpectedly appeared and transported all three of them, with Robin being oblivious because he was preoccupied examining some peculiar mementos belonging to Superman. They were dispersed across the planet, which is not Earth but instead Bizarro World, a square planet created by Superman for Bizarro Number One and other Bizarros to feel at home. Unaware of who brought them there, the Bizarros are intent on violence.

The group chooses to stay low while devising a strategy, but Superman, with his heightened senses, surveys the surrounding area and finds it in complete disarray. Bizarros are fighting each other on the streets, and surprisingly, some of them aren’t laughing as they get attacked, instead crying and fleeing in terror. Moved by compassion, the threesome ventures out to protect those under attack, discovering that the ones being targeted are Bizarros who don’t act or speak backward. A Bizarro Jimmy Olsen informs them that a plague has struck Bizarro World, causing the infected to gain common sense instead of their usual twisted thoughts. The disease is spreading rapidly across the entire planet, and since the uninfected Bizarros do the opposite of what they should, they rush towards the infected in an attempt to catch the disease. Furthermore, being “perfect” is considered a crime on Bizarro World, which explains why the population is self-destructing.

Batman, Robin, and Superman realize they’ve been brought somewhere to handle a disease, but must flee once again as a swarm of Bizarro Supermen attack them. Batman instructs Clark (Superman) to travel to space to find something that can stop them, while he and Robin prepare the duplicator ray. Confused, Robin follows along. The Bizarros are resistant to Green Kryptonite but weak against Blue Kryptonite, which is made by shooting Green K into the duplicator ray. The trio locate the ray in an open area, and Superman takes a huge risk by launching a piece of Green K into the ray, causing the Bizarros to retreat.

An Unlikely Partnership

In my perspective as a movie critic, what intrigues our heroic trio most is the absence of Bizarro Number One in their world. To my surprise, Superman detects him residing in this realm’s Batcave, an unusual hideout adorned with neon signs. Driven by curiosity, we make our way there and stumble upon not only Bizarro Number One but also Batzarro. The malevolent duo seems to be anticipating our arrival, and their refined manners are a stark contrast to typical Bizarros.

Their lack of immediate aggression suggests they may have other intentions. Given that they appear to be the ones who’ve opened the portal, it’s possible they desire an alliance with the World’s Finest – a prospect none of us could have foreseen. The plot thickens!

The combination of Bizarro Number One’s extraordinary abilities and Batzarro’s enhanced intelligence poses an extremely risky situation. Number One was already extraordinarily powerful, while Batzarro’s lack of intellect is the only thing keeping him from being truly competent. If a planet full of Bizarros with clear thinking capabilities comes to fruition, it could be one of the most devastating events in the universe. We can only hope that the World’s Finest can swiftly address this problem.
