Peacock has added a beloved and hilarious sci-fi franchise to its already impressive collection of science fiction content. The streaming service has become a popular choice for sci-fi fans, offering a wide range of shows and movies including titles like Resident Alien, Jurassic Park, and Farscape. This November, Peacock expanded its offerings with four fantastic movies from a single, well-known franchise.
Starting November 1st, you can watch all four Men in Black movies on Peacock. The films are based on the Marvel Comics series by Lowell Cunningham. The original trilogy – Men in Black, Men in Black II, and Men in Black 3 – stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as Agent J and Agent K, members of a top-secret organization that keeps track of and controls alien activity on Earth. The newest movie, Men in Black: International, features Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson as MIB agents who team up for a worldwide adventure when aliens with the ability to disguise themselves as humans appear.
The Men in Black Franchise Is the Perfect Blend of Sci-Fi and Comedy
The Men in Black films are particularly successful because they expertly combine science fiction, action, and comedy. The series doesn’t take itself too seriously, instead relying on humor as a central element. It presents a funny take on the idea of aliens living among us, portraying many as refugees seeking shelter on Earth. The films are driven by a mismatched pair of agents whose clashing personalities create a lot of laughs. Beyond the humor, Men in Black cleverly uses jokes and visual comedy to make complex sci-fi ideas more accessible and enjoyable.
The Men in Black movies, like many franchises, haven’t consistently lived up to the success of the first film, but they still offer a fun and entertaining movie experience. The original Men in Black remains the strongest entry, earning a 91% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The more recent Men in Black: International received a much lower 23% from critics, though audiences enjoyed it more, giving it a 66% rating.
What’s New on Peacock?
As a big movie fan, I was thrilled to see that all the Men in Black films landed on Peacock on November 1st! And it wasn’t just MIB – they added a ton of other favorites, like Bring It On, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Kick-Ass, Straight Outta Compton, and a bunch of the Fast & Furious movies too. Definitely a good month for streaming!
