As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce about my first encounter with Adam Wingard’s cinematic brilliance through the chilling horror anthologies such as V/H/S and ABCs of Death. However, it was his 2011 masterpiece, You’re Next, that truly catapulted him into the limelight of the horror genre. Fortunately for us fans, this cult-classic is now available once again on streaming platforms. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of experiencing its terrifying tension or if it’s been a while since your last viewing, I wholeheartedly recommend giving it another go – trust me; it’s well worth your time!
The storyline of “You’re Next” revolves around Erin (Sharni Vinson), a girl visiting the rural Missouri home of her affluent boyfriend, Crispian (A.J. Bowen). Upon arrival, she discovers that the tranquil atmosphere surrounding Crispian’s parents’ anniversary celebration hides deep-seated family conflicts. However, the tense family dynamics take an unexpected turn when the house is attacked by masked assassins, who systematically eliminate family members.
