A highly-rated and popular Nintendo Switch game recently received a free upgrade to the new Nintendo Switch 2 version for existing owners. New players will be able to purchase the game for the standard price of $14.99 – the price hasn’t changed with the new release. This is great news, as some game updates often come with a price increase.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley is now available, and the developer, ConcernedApe, is offering a free upgrade for existing Switch owners. While the Switch 2 version features improvements and changes, ConcernedApe has generously chosen not to charge players again, even though it would have been understandable to do so.
New Nintendo Switch 2 Version Has Serious Improvements
As a huge fan of the original, I’m so excited about this new version of the farming RPG for the Nintendo Switch 2! They’ve added mouse controls which will be amazing with the updated Joy-Cons. But the biggest news for me is the multiplayer! The Switch version only let two people play together locally, but this new version lets four! Plus, they’ve included a really cool feature called GameShare, so your friends don’t even need to own the game to join in – that was a must-have with the Switch version, so it’s great they’ve added it.
If you’re unfamiliar, Stardew Valley was created by a single developer named ConcernedApe. It received a score of 89 on Metacritic when it launched and has since sold over 41 million copies, making it one of the best-selling games ever – currently tied with Call of Duty: Black Ops III for 17th place.
Stardew Valley on Switch 2 Is Having Some Problems
The game currently has a lot of issues on the Nintendo Switch 2, and the developer, ConcernedApe, has already recognized and apologized for them.
The developer acknowledged problems with the recently released Nintendo Switch 2 edition, stating, “I apologize for the errors and we’re working to fix them immediately.”
A new update was released this afternoon that resolves the online co-op issue for both versions of the game on Switch 2. The developer says they are still looking into other reported problems.
