One of The Best Original Anime Is Leaving Netflix Without Ever Getting a Sequel

Anime is becoming incredibly popular worldwide and is now a major form of entertainment. While Crunchyroll is the go-to place for anime, Netflix also offers a variety of unique anime films and series. These original anime productions stand out with their creative stories, settings, and animation styles. However, despite their artistic quality and diversity, they often don’t get the attention they deserve due to a lack of promotion. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite shows in 2026.

Netflix is adding new shows in 2026, but it’s also losing over 100 of its original series, including some popular anime. According to What’s on Netflix, one show leaving is Sirius the Jaeger, a dark fantasy anime produced by P.A. Works that first came out in 2018. Despite having everything fans wanted, it wasn’t renewed after its first season because it didn’t attract a large enough audience. If you haven’t seen it, you’ll have until April 6th, 2026, to watch it on Netflix.

What Is Sirius the Jaeger About?

This story takes place in 1930s Japan and centers on Yuliy, a young werewolf dedicated to eliminating the last vampires on Earth. As part of a vampire-hunting organization called the Jaegers, he and his team are sent to Japan to investigate a series of disturbances caused by a hidden group of vampires. These vampires aren’t just causing trouble – they’re searching for a legendary artifact called the “Ark of Sirius,” a powerful relic given to Yuliy’s ancestors that is said to bestow incredible power upon its possessor.

Yuliy has lost everything due to the vampires’ ruthless ambition, and he’s now driven by revenge. As he pursues those responsible, he starts to learn shocking secrets about his own history and a powerful, ancient artifact. While the anime doesn’t fully resolve the story, leaving some mysteries unanswered, the compelling characters and excellent development make it a worthwhile experience.

Shows often disappear from streaming services when the agreements to show them run out. Netflix, like other platforms, also sometimes removes titles that aren’t very popular to save money and keep the library manageable. While Netflix might renew these agreements, it’s impossible to predict if or when a show will be available again. Because this anime is exclusive to Netflix, there’s currently no legal way to watch it except through their service until they renew the licensing rights.
