A highly-rated PlayStation 4 game, originally released in 2019, has been enhanced for the PS5. This update comes at a perfect time, as the game’s sequel was released earlier this year. The original game was a major contender at The Game Awards, receiving nine nominations – including for Game of the Year – and ultimately winning awards for Best Direction, Best Score/Music, and Best Performance.
Originally released for PS4 in 2021, it’s a bit strange that Death Stranding is only now receiving a visual upgrade for the PS5 Pro, a year after the console launched. But players who experience the game on PS5 Pro in 2025 will be able to enjoy these improvements. This makes sense considering its 2025 sequel, Death Stranding 2, is also optimized for the new console.
What’s Improved
Now that Death Stranding supports the PS5 Pro, it’s unclear exactly what improvements have been made. The game has been marked as “PS5 Pro Enhanced” on the PlayStation Store, confirming something has changed, but the specifics haven’t been revealed.
Six years after its release, Death Stranding remains a visually stunning game – it was one of the best-looking on PS4. Even better, a fantastic sequel has been released. We originally hailed the first game as a masterpiece by Hideo Kojima, the renowned creator of Metal Gear Solid and a true visionary in gaming. And we’ve now given Death Stranding 2 a perfect score as well.
If you’re playing on the PS5 Pro and want to try Death Stranding, you can only buy the Director’s Cut from the PlayStation Store for $50. The original version of the game isn’t available on PS5. Be aware that Death Stranding is a lengthy game, taking between 40 and 60 hours to complete, depending on how much extra content you explore. However, it will likely be one of the most visually impressive games you’ve played on the PS5 Pro.
