One of the Best Thrillers of 2025 Is Now Streaming on Hulu

The long-awaited streaming premieres for this year’s spring movie releases are now happening. For instance, “Sinners” and “A Minecraft Movie” have been unveiled on HBO Max, while “Drop,” from Blumhouse, recently landed on Peacock over the weekend. And, starting this past Thursday, one of the first gripping thrillers of 2025 entered the streaming world.

This Thursday, the conspiracy thriller “The Amateur” from 20th Century Studios made its streaming debut on Hulu. Initially released in theaters in April, this film managed to rake in a total of $96 million at the box office. Given that all movies from 20th Century Studios are exclusive to Hulu for a while, you’ll need to stream it there if you want to watch it.

The character hailing from “The Amateur” originates under the guidance of director James Hawes, known for Penny Dreadful and Black Mirror, based on Robert Littell’s 1981 book. Rami Malek, famously seen in Mr. Robot, takes on this role as a CIA cryptographer who leverages his position following his wife’s death in a terrorist attack. With minimal field experience, he embarks on a mission to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the tragedy.

Besides Malek, The Amateur features a stellar lineup of actors that includes Rachel Brosnahan known for her role as Superman’s companion, along with Caitriona Balfe, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, and Laurence Fishburne.

What’s New on Hulu?

Leading up to my streaming debut in early July, Hulu had been gradually enriching its library with an array of movies and TV shows for a couple of weeks prior. The grandest influx of these new additions took place right at the start of the month, gracing us with titles such as “Alita: Battle Angel”, “Home Alone”, and “Real Steel”, along with numerous others.
