As a movie lover, I’ve got to say, 2025 has been fantastic for cinema! It’s easily been the strongest year we’ve seen since things started getting back to normal after the pandemic. We had some huge releases earlier in the year – the new *Superman* and *Fantastic Four: First Steps* were massive, of course. But it wasn’t just the superheroes! *Naked Gun* with Liam Neeson was a total surprise hit, and the live-action *Lilo & Stitch* really brought people out to the theaters too. Speaking of *Lilo & Stitch*, that film – one of the year’s biggest – is finally available to stream now!
The live-action version of *How to Train Your Dragon* is now available to stream on Peacock, starting today, October 10th. The movie, which closely follows the story of the original animated film, was a big hit in theaters, earning $635 million worldwide (with $263 million of that coming from the US). It premiered in June, so fans have been eagerly awaiting its arrival on streaming. And now, Peacock has added all three animated *How to Train Your Dragon* movies, giving fans a convenient place to watch Toothless’ entire story.
How to Train Your Dragon is a Live Action Remake Done Right

How to Train Your Dragon is a popular story about a young Viking named Hiccup (Mason Thames) and his unlikely friendship with a dragon called Toothless. Originally a book series by Cressida Cowell, it was first made into an animated movie in 2010. The film was a huge success with both critics and audiences, becoming one of the year’s highest-grossing animated films and leading to two sequels.
Turning animated movies into live-action films isn’t a new idea, and it hasn’t always worked well. Many of Disney’s live-action remakes have been criticized for straying from the original stories. However, the live-action version of *How to Train Your Dragon* successfully avoids these problems. It’s a very close adaptation of the original animated film, simply using real actors and impressive computer-generated imagery for Toothless. This loyalty to the source material is especially rewarding for fans who grew up with the animation, and it also offers a fantastic experience for new viewers.
As a big fan of *How to Train Your Dragon*, I was thrilled to hear they’re planning even more live-action adaptations! They’ve already announced a live-action sequel, which they revealed at CinemaCon a few months ago. Currently, it’s scheduled to hit theaters on June 11, 2027, and I’m already counting down the days!
How to Train Your Dragon is now streaming on Peacock.
