Blumhouse, known for its successful horror movies, is expanding into video games. In addition to games like Sleep Awake and Project C, they’re developing Crisol: Theater of Idols. This new game appears to be a horror-themed take on Resident Evil 4, sharing a similar visual style and atmosphere with the popular Capcom classic.
Crisol: Theater of Idols, a first-person survival-horror game created by Blumhouse Games and Vermila Studios, is coming in 2026. The publisher has released a video series offering a preview of the game’s island setting, Tormentosa. Many viewers have noted that Crisol shares visual and gameplay similarities with classic Resident Evil titles – and that’s a good thing! The game appears to build upon a successful formula, adding its own unique horror elements to create a truly terrifying experience.
Crisol: Theater Of Idols Is Taking Cues From The Best Resident Evil Games

The new teaser for Crisol: Theater of Idols gives a glimpse of the game’s unsettling and eerie setting on the island of Tormentosa, near Hispaña. The game’s Spanish location and striking visuals are reminiscent of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil VIII, which both successfully used isolated European countryside locations to create fear. Crisol: Theater of Idols takes this further with terrifying enemies that appear to be hunting the player.
This survival game shares a similar unsettling atmosphere and rural setting with Resident Evil 4, including creepy imagery and a focus on shooting. Players who enjoyed Resident Evil 4 as Leon Kennedy will find the gunplay familiar. Like Resident Evil VIII, the game is played from a first-person perspective. The initial teaser shows a frantic yet immersive experience, where players will struggle to survive against frightening, mechanical enemies.
In the game, you play as Gabriel, a soldier with a unique ability: he uses his own blood as ammo for a special gun. This creates interesting choices in battles, as players must decide how much of their own life force to risk to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. The new video showcases this combat and gives a glimpse of the game’s unsettling porcelain enemies and overall atmosphere. This video is the first in a series of looks at the world of Crisol: Theater of Idols, offering a terrifying preview of the world created by Blumhouse and Vermila Studios.
