One of the Goriest R-Rated Horrors of 2025 Is Finally Streaming

Over the past few years, I’ve found myself in a unique position if one happens to be a chilling clown, as the horror genre has thrived. Franchises like “IT” and “Terrifier” have certainly played a significant role, but now there’s a fresh addition to this exclusive and deadly club that I can’t ignore. Their grisly and R-rated horror film is finally set for streaming release, and I can hardly wait!

According to Vital Thrills’ report of Shudder’s August release schedule, it is confirmed that the R-rated horror film “Clown in a Cornfield” will debut on the service on August 8th. This movie has garnered a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 57% score on Popcornmeter. If you missed its theatrical run, you now have an opportunity to watch it on Shudder.

The story, titled “Clown in a Cornfield,”, centers around a group of teenagers who unwittingly attract the attention of a menacing clown named Frendo. Interestingly, Frendo was once the mascot for the closed Baypen Corn Syrup Factory, but nowadays, he’s more interested in prowling the surrounding cornfields and targeting anyone who finds themselves stranded there. Here is the official description for “Clown in a Cornfield.

Seeking a new beginning, Katie Douglas (Quinn) along with her father Aaron Abrams relocate to the tranquil town of Kettle Springs. However, they discover that this once prosperous community has been struggling since a factory was destroyed by fire. As disagreements escalate among the residents and tempers flare, an eerie, grinning clown mysteriously appears from the cornfields, seemingly intent on purifying the town through a series of gruesome slayings. This chilling tale is helmed by director Eli Craig.

The movie titled “Clown in a Cornfield” is the fourth horror flick that Shudder will unveil this month, starting with the premieres of “Urban Legend” and “Urban Legends: Final Cut” at the beginning of August. On the 4th, Shudder introduced “Gags the Clown”, a story about a gang of friends who encounter an enigmatic clown figure. Known as Gags, this clown leaves everyone guessing about his true nature, but his real motives will soon become clear.

Towards the end of the month, Shudder’s latest film, titled “The Twin“, will make its debut. This story revolves around a man named Nicholas who grapples with his sorrow following the death of his son. As time passes, he encounters eerie visions of a figure resembling himself, forcing him to face his past and the unknown supernatural entity behind these occurrences before it’s too late.
