Several manga series have been canceled recently in Weekly Shonen Jump, but Shueisha isn’t the only publisher ending stories. Kodansha, the company behind popular titles like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga, is preparing to conclude one of its most successful and longest-running manga. After starting in 2007, the story of two siblings on a journey to space is nearing its end.
The popular manga series Space Brothers, which follows the journeys of Mutta and Hibito, will conclude this year. Only three chapters remain, and creator Chuya Koyama feels this is a natural ending point for the story. Koyama shared that he’s eager to see how it all wraps up and thanks readers for following along. The final chapter will be released this spring, with the complete manga series – a total of forty-six volumes – available this summer. While not as widely known as One Piece, Space Brothers has built a dedicated and appreciative fanbase over its long run.
The popular manga Space Brothers will conclude with just 3 more chapters! The final volume, number 46, will be released on July 23rd. This marks the end of a 19-year run since the series began in 2007. Don’t miss the conclusion of the brothers’ dreams and promises!

Space Brothers Are Blasting Off
If you’re new to the manga Space Brothers, here’s a quick overview from Kodansha: The story centers around two brothers who dreamed of becoming astronauts as kids. Now, in 2025, the younger brother, Hibito, is living that dream as a selected astronaut for a long-term lunar base. Meanwhile, the older brother, Mutta, has just lost his job. Inspired by a message from Hibito, he decides to take one last chance and apply to be an astronaut himself, hoping to reach for the stars.
If you’re interested in watching Space Brothers, you have a few choices! In 2012, the manga was adapted into an anime series with almost 100 episodes. The animation was done by A-1 Pictures, known for shows like Solo Leveling and Sword Art Online. There was also an anime film released in 2014, and a live-action movie in Japan by Toho. Since a lot of the manga hasn’t been animated yet, there’s a chance the anime could return in the future.
