Spanning over five decades, Stephen King has earned the title “The Master of Horror,” a moniker well deserved. His works such as “Carrie,” “It,” and “Misery” have left an indelible mark on the horror genre. Yet, King’s reputation extends beyond pure horror, with books like one that was adapted not just once, but twice – first for the cinema and later for television, resulting in a series that is the longest-running based on his work. This production can now be enjoyed at your convenience, entirely free of charge, right from the comfort of your home.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that “The Dead Zone,” starring Anthony Michael Hall in USA Network’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 1979 science fiction thriller novel, is now streaming for free on Tubi. This gripping series ran for six seasons from 2002 to 2007 and follows the story of Johnny Smith, a small-town teacher who finds himself in a coma after a car accident. Six years later, he miraculously wakes up, but with a unique ability – the power to glimpse both the past and future by merely touching objects or people. He uses this gift to aid in solving crimes.
Michael and Shawn Piller’s production, The Dead Zone, features Nicole de Boer as Sarah Anne Bracknell-Bannerman, John L. Adams as Bruce Lewis, Chris Bruno as Sheriff Walter T. “Walt” Bannerman, and “JJ” Bannerman. The series enjoys a favorable rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes with a 72% audience score.
Before it became a popular six-season TV series, Stephen King’s novel was initially made into a movie in 1983, the same year that also witnessed the premiere of both Cujo and Christine. David Cronenberg’s “The Dead Zone” shares a similar plotline and features Christopher Walken, Brooke Adams, Tom Skerritt, Herbert Lom, Martin Sheen, Anthony Zerbe, and Colleen Dewhurst. You can stream this movie for free on Tubi. Tubi, a free streaming platform, also offers other King adaptations like “Children of the Corn”, “Carrie”, and “Trucks”, to name a few.
New on Tubi
Instead of solely “The Dead Zone,” Tubi provides a vast selection of TV shows and movies to stream at no cost. Similar to other streaming platforms, their content offerings are updated monthly, with new arrivals on the first day of each month.
