A hugely popular PC game, first released on Steam in 2019 as an early access title and fully launched in 2021, has now been officially verified to work great on the Steam Deck. It’s a bit surprising this took so long, considering the Steam Deck launched in 2022 and the game was already a hit on the platform. Previously, Valve had rated it as “Playable,” but now they confirm it offers a smooth, complete experience on the handheld device.
Good news for Steam Deck owners who were waiting for the ‘Verified’ status before playing Satisfactory – the game now has it! While it’s not exactly known what changes earned the verification, an update to the game likely addressed any compatibility issues.
Steam Hit Finally on Steam Deck
If you haven’t heard of Satisfactory, it’s been a huge success story for independent games over the last ten years. As of 2024, the game has sold 5.5 million copies and reached a peak of 184,171 concurrent players on Steam – the 98th highest peak ever recorded on the platform.
The game has been incredibly popular, with many players enjoying it. It received excellent reviews when it was released, earning a score of 91 on Metacritic. It’s also consistently ranked as one of the best games ever on Steam, boasting a 97% approval rating from over 126,000 user reviews. This high praise has earned it Steam’s highest possible rating: “Overwhelmingly Positive.”
This game is a factory-building simulator where you start as a lone pioneer on an alien planet with just a few basic tools. Your goal is to build elaborate factories that process the planet’s resources. While the idea is straightforward, actually building these factories is surprisingly complex and incredibly engaging. You experience the game from a first-person perspective in an open-world environment, and you can even team up with friends in co-op multiplayer. It’s currently available on Steam for $39.99.
