I was so excited to see Prime Video add a really great animated movie this weekend! It’s one of DreamWorks’ newer films, and honestly, I think it’s been a little overlooked. DreamWorks has been on a roll since 2020 with hits like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Wild Robot, but this one hasn’t gotten quite as much attention, which is a shame because it’s fantastic! It’s been hopping around different streaming platforms, but I’m glad it’s now on Prime Video so more people can discover it.
Although the 2023 animated film Migration didn’t become as big of a hit as some other DreamWorks movies, it still earned over $300 million and has gradually gained a following. Now, even more people can enjoy it, as it’s become available on Prime Video this week.
Since its release, Migration has been available on several streaming services, including Peacock and Netflix, allowing many viewers to discover the charming duck family featured in the film. Now, you can watch it on Prime Video, where it’s likely to attract even more fans.
Migration Could Be a DreamWorks’ Franchise
The show Migration follows a family of ducks who have always lived in the same pond. When the kids start wishing for something more exciting, their worried dad decides it’s time to fly south for the winter. However, because they’ve never migrated before, their trip turns into a wild and unexpected adventure.
The animated film Migration features Kumail Nanjiani and Elizabeth Banks as a pair of mallard ducks, but it’s their eccentric Uncle Dan, voiced by Danny DeVito, who truly shines. DeVito’s performance is consistently the funniest and most captivating part of the movie.
The movie features a talented cast, including Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, Isabela Merced, Carol Kane, Tresi Gazal, and Caspar Jennings.
DreamWorks’ Migration has all the ingredients for a successful franchise – a straightforward story and characters you quickly find yourself caring about. The movie also opens up exciting possibilities for future installments, with the potential for new and interesting locations. By the end of the film, the family is enjoying a winter vacation on an island, which leads to plenty of funny moments, especially for Kumail Nanjiani’s character. Plus, places like the farm and New York City, which are featured in the movie, could easily be the setting for more adventures.
We haven’t heard if DreamWorks plans to release more content through migration, but their success across various streaming platforms is definitely a positive sign.
