One of the Most Underrated Family Fantasy Franchises Just Joined Netflix (But There’s a Problem)

If you’re tired of rewatching KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix, there’s a great family fantasy series now available. Netflix already has lots of popular family movies like The Wild Robot, Despicable Me, and Cheaper by the Dozen, and they’ve just added a new, exciting adventure series that’s sure to entertain.

The Night at the Museum movies, starring Ben Stiller, are a fantastic choice for family movie night! Based on a children’s book, the films follow a museum security guard whose job gets a lot more interesting when the exhibits magically come to life. They’re full of adventure, humor, and heartwarming moments. However, only the original three Night at the Museum films – Night at the Museum, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb – are currently available on Netflix. The animated installment, Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, can be found on Disney+.

Night at the Museum Is an Underappreciated Family-Friendly Fantasy

When Night at the Museum came out, it was a huge box office hit, earning over $575 million worldwide – even more than films like X-Men: The Last Stand and Superman Returns. Despite receiving only a 47% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, many viewers loved the movie. It captured a sense of childhood wonder, making history feel exciting and accessible. The film cleverly turned museum exhibits into funny and endearing characters. The story itself is original, fast-paced, and heartwarming, and the two sequels continued the adventure successfully, introducing new historical figures and keeping the magic alive, even if they didn’t receive rave reviews.

Netflix is continuing to add new content for its subscribers. This month, families can enjoy both How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon 2. For those looking for something else, the streaming service also added movies like Crazy, Stupid, Love, Ex Machina, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, and Zero Dark Thirty on February 1st.
