Everyone has different tastes in comedy, but critics and viewers widely agree that one particular Netflix movie from the 2020s is truly terrible. While Netflix has plenty of funny options – including popular films like the 2018 comedy Game Night with Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, and Mike Judge’s classic Idiocracy from 2006 – this other movie didn’t land well with audiences and is leaving the platform soon. It’s almost universally considered one of the worst comedies ever made.
The 2020 comedy Guest House, starring Pauly Shore, is leaving Netflix on December 18th. The movie, which received negative reviews, follows a couple who discover their guest house is already occupied by a wild partygoer with a strange collection. It was released digitally and features Mike Castle, Aimeé Teegarden, Billy Zane, Steve-O, Charlotte McKinney, and Mikaela Hoover alongside Shore. It was co-written and directed by Sam Macaroni.
Guest House Earned a 0% Rotten Tomatoes Score
It’s incredibly rare for a movie to receive a 0% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and Guest House managed to achieve that dubious distinction. While based on only five reviews, audience scores weren’t much better, landing at just 39% after over 100 votes. One critic from Blue-Ray.com called it “an uninspired and desperate comedy,” and a viewer bluntly described it as “painful to watch” with nothing positive to offer.
I really wanted to enjoy Guest House, but honestly, it wasn’t even entertainingly bad – it was just… painful to watch. They clearly aimed for big laughs, but the jokes just didn’t land, and a lot of them felt really old-fashioned and relied on stuff that’s just not funny anymore. Even the jokes that weren’t offensive still felt more cruel than comedic. Beyond that, I didn’t connect with any of the characters – not even the leads, who I was supposed to be cheering on. The story just wandered around without a clear purpose, and the ending felt really flat. It’s a movie I’m already trying to forget.
Where to Stream Guest House After It Leaves Netflix?
Guest House isn’t for everyone, but those who enjoy it might have trouble finding it after it leaves Netflix on December 18th. Currently, it’s not available on any other streaming services and isn’t expected to be added to one anytime soon. After it’s removed from Netflix, viewers will need to rent or buy the movie online. However, streaming services often add and remove titles, so Guest House could become available again in the future.
