It won’t be long before one of the X-Men takes charge of Earth’s strongest superhero team, the Avengers. The Avengers and X-Men are undoubtedly Marvel’s most prominent franchises, causing fans to pick sides – Avengers supporters versus X-Men enthusiasts. The historic clash between these teams during the “Avengers vs. X-Men” event is still remembered, but now they get along much better. However, even with friendly interactions between the two groups, it’s unexpected when an X-Man steps up to lead the Avengers.
This afternoon at San Diego Comic-Con’s X-Men panel from Marvel Comics, we got a sneak peek of the upcoming “Age of Revelation” comics in November. “Age of Revelation” will take over the X-Men series with fresh titles, all set in an alternate future where Doug Ramsey, Apocalypse’s heir and known as Revelation, has built a mutant paradise on Earth. One of these new comics is “X-Vengers,” written by Jason Loo and illustrated by Sergio Davila. In this series, Dani Moonstar leads a revamped Avengers team consisting of Hawkeye, Vision, Water Widow, Shang-Chi, Variable Man, and Cannonball. It seems these newly formed Avengers have gained mutant abilities, and the cover for issue 2 shows Dani Moonstar brandishing Captain America’s shield to symbolize her authority.
In the Marvel Universe, Dani Moonstar, once part of the New Mutants, has ventured out on her own path. She’s also had stints with the Fearless Defenders, an all-female superhero team. In issue #2 of X-Vengers, Dani will leverage these past experiences to safeguard the Revelation Territories. The cover art by Mike McKone depicts Dani Moonstar holding Captain America’s shield aloft, in a tribute to fallen Avengers. Among those honored are US Agent, Jack of Hearts, Stingray, Moon Knight, Darkhawk, Wonder Man, Scarlet Witch, Steve Rogers (Captain America), and Hercules, to name but a few.

The X-Men Are Building Their Own Avengers Team
It’s not unprecedented for someone other than Steve Rogers to assume the role of Captain America. Typically, it’s a character with connections to Captain America, such as Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson. Interestingly, Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, has led in a film titled “Captain America: Brave New World.” However, this is an unusual turn of events since a member of the X-Men is now donning the Captain America mantle for the first time.
To begin with, Beast was the initial X-Man to team up with the Avengers, forging a beloved bond with Wonder Man. Since that time, we’ve seen X-Men such as Wolverine, Rogue, and Storm among the Avengers. Notably, Storm assumed Thor’s role as the Avengers’ Thunder God, while Rogue led the Uncanny Avengers – an alliance between the Avengers and X-Men created post-Avengers vs. X-Men. However, it is unprecedented for an X-Man to take on the Captain America role. It will be intriguing to see how readers respond to this twist, whether they approve or express reservations about it.
