One of Tom Hanks’ Newest (and Most Underrated) Movies Just Landed on HBO Max

Tom Hanks has been a hugely popular and admired actor for many years. He’s starred in countless successful films, from dramatic war movies like Saving Private Ryan to romantic comedies like Sleepless in Seattle and the beloved Toy Story franchise, leaving a lasting impression on audiences. One of his more recent films, which became a surprise hit thanks to his popularity, is now available on HBO Max and makes for a perfect family movie this holiday season.

HBO Max recently added the 2022 film A Man Called Otto to its streaming service. The movie, which is based on a novel by Fredrik Backman and a remake of the 2015 Swedish film A Man Called Ove, earned over $113 million in theaters during the holiday season a couple of years ago.

The movie features Tom Hanks as a grumpy, older man living alone in Pittsburgh. He’s not particularly friendly with anyone, but his life takes an unexpected turn when he connects with a young family next door, ultimately changing his perspective on life as he gets older.

With its blend of humor and heartfelt moments, A Man Called Otto has all the qualities of a film everyone can enjoy, and it’s a perfect showcase for Tom Hanks’ talent. He’s a master at connecting with audiences emotionally, and he delivers that beautifully in this role.
