Among the numerous enigmas in the storyline of One Piece regarding the Ancient Kingdom and the Void Century, the Ancient Weapons stand out as perhaps the most enigmatic entities, despite playing a seemingly integral role in the grand scheme. The Egghead Arc underscored the sheer destructive power of these weapons when Vegapunk disclosed they were responsible for submerging half of the One Piece world. Over the course of the story thus far, viewers have been successively acquainted with each of the Ancient Weapons. Only one Ancient Weapon’s identity remains undiscovered, and it now appears that One Piece may have hinted at the possible creators of these enigmatic weapons.
In chapter 1154 of “One Piece”, Jarul and Harald unveil a mysterious group called the Galleila band, who are colossal hammer-wielding shipbuilders. This peculiar organization is believed to have been made up of over one hundred Giants, including Ancient Giants, all of whom were captured by the World Government at some point. Given their name and the circumstances, it’s reasonable to assume that the Galleila band could be the source of the Galley-La Company on Water Seven. Moreover, they might also explain how the Pluton blueprints wound up on the shipwright island. It’s even plausible that these Giants designed not only Pluton but another crucial vessel as well.
One Piece May Have Just Revealed Pluton’s Creators
In English, the names of these two groups sound almost identical but have different meanings, suggesting a strong link between them. Remarkably, in Japanese, their spellings are quite similar, with “Galley-La” being written as “ガレーラ” and “Galleila” as “ガレイラ.” Interestingly, in the world of One Piece, there have been instances where they’ve used phonetic deceptions to confuse fans, like “Raftel” and “Laugh Tale,” or more notoriously, “Gold Roger” and “Gol D. Roger.
It’s plausible that the Galleia Giants constructed Pluton due to several reasons. Primarily, because Pluton has been referred to as a formidable warship, it seems fitting that a renowned group of giant shipbuilders would be its creators. Just as the Fishmen are believed to have Poseidon, the Giants might have had possession of Pluton, following the pattern where each significant race is thought to have been entrusted with an Ancient Weapon.
A key point from the Water Seven Saga is that for years, the World Government has been seeking the blueprints for Pluton, and this may be why the Galleila gang was arrested and jailed. Iceburg disclosed in Chapter 344 that Pluton was initially constructed on Water Seven, which suggests the shipwrights of the island might have held the blueprints at the time of Galleila’s capture. The mystery of how Pluton came to be in Wano could potentially be answered by an Ancient Giant who transported it there. This theory is supported by the fact that these giants, like Oars, are known as “continent pullers.” It isn’t hard to imagine a giant with a skull as big as Onigashima’s could drag a warship like Pluton.
Another interpretation could be that maybe the Galleila crew constructed the Noah, even though there’s little evidence supporting this specific idea. However, considering Iceburg appears well-versed in Ancient Weapons and Poneglyphs, it’s plausible he deliberately named Galley-La after the Giants’ band to preserve their memory in a unique manner.
