The animated series of One Piece began the Egghead Incident storyline in January 2024 and is now moving towards its conclusion. Following Luffy’s epic win against Kaido in Wano, his crew reaches the futuristic island of Egghead. Here, they encounter Dr. Vegapunk, a brilliant scientist who has worked for the World Government for several decades. Although Vegapunk’s work has greatly benefited the Marines, the World Government discards him immediately upon discovering that he has been studying the Void Century. As we know from the Ohara Incident, they have no qualms about eliminating anyone who possesses even a glimpse of the true history of the world.
Upon reaching the island accompanied by Jewelry Bonney, Luffy and his crew find themselves immediately engaged in multiple battles. Initially, CP0 agents appear on the scene to confront them. After their defeat, Admiral Kizaru arrives with a fleet of 100 Marine ships, many of which are led by Vice Admirals. Despite being outnumbered, Luffy’s team manages to hold their own against their enemies. However, things become more challenging with Saturn’s arrival due to his demonic powers and regenerative abilities that the crew has not encountered before.
Throughout this action-packed arc, there is also a brief pause for Kuma’s backstory to unfold amidst the fighting. Now that Kuma’s flashback has come to an end and combat has resumed once more, we are approaching the climax of the Egghead Incident Arc.
One Piece’s Latest Opening Teases the Five Elders’ Powers
Despite encountering numerous adversaries in Egghead up until now, none have proven to be the principal antagonists – not even Kizaru. Interestingly, the most recent opening theme, “Carminde” by Ellegarden, introduced in Episode 1139, hints that the primary villains of this arc will be the Five Elders. Currently, only Saturn is engaging the crew on the island, but it’s expected that the remaining four will join him soon. The opening theme provides a glimpse of their shadows and showcases the genuine forms of Saturn and Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro alone.
Nusjuro’s appearance blends features of a skeletal horse and his own unique form. Unlike Saturn, who primarily uses his powers in combat, Nusjuro carries a sword to engage with his adversaries. In the flashback of the Reverie Incident, Sabo ventured into the Throne Room intending to rescue Nefertari Cobra from Imu and the Elders. However, he was taken aback when all five Elders transformed into demonic forms. In a moment of surprise, Sabo compared the scene to hell itself. At that time, only silhouettes of their powers were depicted in the manga, with their full capabilities revealed during the Egghead Incident Arc. Upon arriving on the island through the same summoning circle, these Elders are expected to create significantly more trouble for the pirates than Kizaru ever did.
