Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga. The recent Elbaf Arc has finally revealed Rocks D. Xebec, a long-mysterious figure thought to be behind the God Valley Incident. We learned that Xebec was defeated by an alliance of Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp, a fact that was kept secret because it involved the Marines working with pirates. However, Sengoku intentionally omitted details about the horrific actions committed by the Celestial Dragons during that time. Kuma’s backstory in the Egghead Incident Arc showed us the terrifying Native Hunting Competition, where the Celestial Dragons every three years choose an island and brutally eliminate its inhabitants and slaves in a deadly game.
Despite showing the past on God Valley during the flashback in the Egghead Incident Arc, the pirate leader Xebec wasn’t actually seen. This is surprising considering how important he was to the events that happened 38 years ago. However, we finally got a look at his face, and it’s strikingly similar to that of his son, Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard). The events on God Valley were even more intense than what we’ve seen so far, and the manga’s editors are hinting at a big reveal about the Void Century in chapter 1164.
One Piece Chapter 1164 Preview Hints At a Major Revelation

Manga editors include chapter previews in Weekly Shonen Jump to get fans excited about what’s coming. Because these previews are only in Japanese, the popular One Piece X (formerly Twitter) account @pewpiece translates them for international fans. The latest preview asks, “What pasts and destinies will be revealed next?”
It was completely unexpected that Xebec was actually a relative of Davy Jones, and his birth name was Davy D. Xebec. His family managed to survive by becoming involved in the criminal world, though very few members remain today. During the battle at God Valley, Imu, the world’s enigmatic ruler, controlled Saint Jaygarcia Saturn and spoke with Xebec again. Imu called Xebec by the name Davy Jones, but Xebec claimed he’d never met the legendary pirate.
I overheard Xebec talking about a promise, seemingly between him and Imu, which suggests he knew a lot more about what happened in the past than we realized. It seems Imu is completely focused on eliminating anyone connected to the Davy Clan. In fact, he even took over Xebec’s body to kill his wife and young son. I have a feeling the next chapter will reveal the heartbreaking story of this pirate, who knowingly walked into a trap set by the World Government at God Valley. Everything we’ve seen hints that the past and future being teased relate to the Void Century and the fate of the Davy Clan, with Blackbeard possibly being the last one left.
