I’ve been watching anime for years, and it’s amazing how much it’s blown up recently! Services like Crunchyroll have really opened things up, letting so many more people discover incredible shows and movies they might never have seen otherwise. With all these platforms battling it out by making their own anime and grabbing the rights to classics, it’s no surprise that One Piece is such a huge deal. The Straw Hats are everywhere now, and tons of popular streamers have become massive fans of Eiichiro Oda’s work. But honestly, I was shocked to hear one of the biggest YouTubers out there just announced he loves the series… but really dislikes some of the fans! It’s a weird combo, for sure.
I’ve been watching MrBeast, who’s become a massive name online with over 450 million subscribers, start a new adventure recently. He confessed he’d never gotten into One Piece before, but after some encouragement from IShowSpeed, he began watching Luffy’s story. He seems to be enjoying it, though he’s had some pretty critical things to say about the One Piece fan base.
Some fans of One Piece can be really negative. They often accuse people of only pretending to like the show to gain popularity. Honestly, I’ve been watching anime for a long time – even before many current fans were born! I was tweeting about shows like Legends of the Galactic Heroes back in 2019, and I’ve seen all 700 episodes of Naruto. If you don’t believe me, you can check my old tweets or watch the clip here.
One Piece Affects The World
Following MrBeast’s recent interest in One Piece, streamer IShowSpeed has been openly showing his love for the series. While traveling in Africa, he even performed the Sun God Nika dance when meeting locals. As the manga and anime approach their conclusion, it’s clear that more and more celebrities are becoming fans of Eiichiro Oda’s work.
2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for One Piece, with excitement building beyond the attention it’s already getting from popular figures like Mr. Beast and IShowSpeed. This March, Netflix will release the second part of its live-action One Piece series, continuing the Straw Hats’ journey to places like Drum Island, Whiskey Peak, and Loguetown. Although the anime is making some changes – switching from weekly to bi-weekly episodes later this year – the core story of the Grand Line will remain central to the series for years to come.
