Eiichiro Oda’s incredibly popular manga, One Piece, is in its final story arc, but it will still be several years before it ends. Starting in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997, One Piece has become the best-selling manga series ever. The story recently entered the Elbaph Arc, the second part of the final saga, moving the Straw Hat crew closer to their ultimate goal, Laugh Tale. After more than 28 years, the series still holds many unanswered questions. The final arc is full of surprising twists as fans learn more about the long-lost Void Century. Because it’s so popular, One Piece is always a major highlight at anime and manga events.
At Jump Festa 2026, exciting news about One Piece was revealed, including the release date and a trailer for the Elbaph Arc. As is tradition, Eiichiro Oda, the series creator, shared a detailed message on the official One Piece X account, outlining what fans can expect in 2026. While he didn’t offer any updates on the anime reboot or the new movie, Oda emphasized the manga’s progress as the current flashback arc nears its end. He also confirmed that the enigmatic character known as the Man With the Burn Scar will finally appear.
Who Is the Man With The Burn Scar in One Piece?

This enigmatic figure first appeared in chapter 1056, where Killer, a leader within the Kid Pirates, explained they needed to locate him to participate in the fight for the One Piece treasure. Chapter 1081 hinted at his dangerous ability: a Devil Fruit power that lets him generate massive whirlpools capable of engulfing anyone who approaches. It was later revealed that he possesses the final Road Poneglyph, a crucial item Luffy needs to continue his journey.
The location of Laugh Tale can only be found by piecing together information from four special stones called Road Poneglyphs. Each stone contains coordinates, and where all the coordinates converge will lead to Laugh Tale. Currently, the Straw Hat Pirates have information from three of these stones. To reach Laugh Tale, Luffy’s crew needs to find the mysterious man with the burn scars, and it seems he’ll appear soon. It’s unclear whether this man, often called the Man Marked by Flames, will help or hinder their journey.
Oda’s recent comments suggest the Straw Hat crew is getting closer to Laugh Tale, the island where Gol D. Roger hid all his treasure. The current Elbaph storyline is revealing important backstory information before Luffy and his crew face their enemies. If the mysterious man with the burn scar appears next year, it’s likely to be within this Elbaph arc.
