One Piece Delays Highly Anticipated Spin-Off

Among the anime characters expected to have a significant 2026, Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece is poised for a big year. Next month, the reindeer doctor will appear in live-action for the first time as part of the Netflix adaptation of the popular series. While a spin-off focusing on Chopper is also in the works, its release has been delayed for an unexpected reason. Fans who follow the manga will have to wait a little longer to read Chopper’s individual story as he gains prominence on Netflix.

The spin-off story featuring Tony Tony Chopper, announced last year, will explore Chopper’s experiences outside of the main One Piece world, interacting with everyday life and modern technology. This side story isn’t considered part of the main storyline created by Eiichiro Oda. The first volume was originally planned for release on March 4th, but has been delayed until April 23rd. The delay is due to high demand and a desire to print enough copies to meet everyone’s interest.

Tony Tony’s Real World Premiere

The second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece arrives on March 10th, and it will cover a significant portion of the original story. Expect to see locations like Loguetown, Whiskey Peak, and Reverse Mountain, with a major focus on Drum Island – the wintry home of Tony Tony Chopper. Chopper, the Straw Hats’ doctor, will be created using computer-generated imagery, and voiced by Mikaela Hoover, known for her work in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Superman.

The first season of the live-action One Piece closely followed the original story, largely because the series creator, Eiichiro Oda, was heavily involved as an executive producer. Early looks at Tony Tony Chopper show he looks just like his character in the manga and anime. Recent trailers and promotional materials have featured Chopper, but fans are still curious about how his transformations will be handled. In the original One Piece, Tony Tony often changes forms, usually to become stronger for battles. While we haven’t seen these transformations in the live-action series yet, most fans expect they will appear on Netflix next month.

Currently in both the manga and anime, Tony Tony Chopper continues to sail with the Straw Hat Pirates as they journey through the final saga of One Piece. As the crew explores the island of the giants, Elbaf, Chopper is playing a particularly prominent role this year.
