Fans of One Piece have a lot to anticipate in the coming months! In addition to the success of the second season of the live-action series on Netflix and the start of a new anime arc this April, a new spinoff anime focusing on the character Nami is also in production. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic year for One Piece fans!
I’m so excited about the new One Piece project! It’s called One Piece: Heroines, and it’s an anime based on a light novel that features all the amazing female characters from the original series – stories we didn’t get to see in the manga! They’re really focusing on Nami’s adventures, which is fantastic. And the first trailers are going to be shown at AnimeJapan 2026 – I can’t wait to check them out!
When Does One Piece: Heroines Come Out?
I recently learned that a new anime special, One Piece: Heroines, is coming out in Japan on July 5th. It’s based on a novel by Jun Esaka and Sayaka Suwa with the same name. While there’s no word yet on when it will be available outside of Japan, it seems it will only be one episode long, adapting the “Episode: Nami” story. It’s a little disappointing because the original novel focuses on several of the female characters, but it’s still exciting to see this story brought to life with a fresh animation style and a new team working on it.
Haruka Kamatami will direct the upcoming One Piece: Heroines anime for Toei Animation. Takashi Kojima is in charge of character designs, and Momoka Toyoda is writing the script. The voice actors for Nami and Robin will return from the original One Piece anime, and Maaya Sakamoto will voice Miucha while Takehito Koyasu will voice Lubun. This is just one of several new One Piece anime projects planned for this year.
What’s One Piece: Heroines Anime About?

I recently learned a bit about the upcoming One Piece: Heroines special. It seems the story starts with Nami buying a pair of shoes that unfortunately don’t fit well, so she goes back to the store. There, she meets the shoe designer, Lebno, who offers to make her a custom pair if she’ll model them. Apparently, a skilled artisan named Miucha is the one actually crafting the shoes, and this leads to a pretty surprising and fashionable meeting. But that’s not all there is to the story, it sounds like!
Fans of One Piece have a lot to look forward to! A new arc of episodes begins April 5th, and a recent trailer revealed at AnimeJapan 2026 gives a sneak peek. The One Piece: Elbaph Arc marks a significant step in the series’ final storyline, bringing Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew closer to the legendary island of giants – a destination fans have anticipated for nearly 30 years of the manga.
