Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, One Piece, features many memorable characters, but fans especially love the Straw Hat Pirates. They’re the main characters whose adventures we’ve followed for years. When they first set out, the crew had just five members, led by Captain Monkey D. Luffy. As their journey progressed, others with their own goals joined Luffy, hoping to help him become the Pirate King.
Every member of the crew has personal ambitions they’re striving for, and they’re dedicated to working hard to achieve them. These goals shape who they are as individuals, making them more complex and strengthening their bond with Luffy, who empowers them to make those dreams come true. With so many challenging aspirations, which one is the most significant?
10) Usopp Can Achieve His Dream Anytime He Wants

Usopp wants to be a courageous warrior of the sea, and while his dream isn’t as challenging as some others’, his biggest obstacle is his own self-doubt. He’s repeatedly shown bravery in tough spots, even standing up to incredibly strong enemies like Admiral Kizaru to protect his friends. However, despite these impressive moments, he still hasn’t fully become the confident and powerful warrior he aspires to be.
9) Brook Just Needs to Wait For the Journey to Be Over

For over 50 years, Brook lived as a skeleton, completely alone, until he met Luffy during the adventure on Thriller Bark. He then discovered Luffy’s bond with Laboon, a massive whale his old crew had to leave behind when they set off for the Grand Line. Although the Rumbar Pirates disappeared decades ago, Brook is determined to fulfill his promise and see Laboon again, who has been patiently waiting near Reverse Mountain. Unlike his new crewmates who have specific destinations, Brook’s dream will come true simply by continuing to sail with them until their journey ends.
8) Franky’s Dream Is Already Halfway Realized

Franky has already accomplished half of his lifelong goal: building a ship capable of circumnavigating the globe and reaching the end of the Grand Line. He successfully built the Thousand Sunny for Luffy’s crew and later joined them on their adventures. Remarkably, the ship has remained largely undamaged throughout their challenging voyage. Now that they’ve entered the New World – the second half of the Grand Line – Franky’s dream is within reach.
7) Roronoa Zoro Needs More Training to Defeat Mihawk

I’m completely invested in seeing Zoro achieve his lifelong dream! It’s not just about him becoming the world’s greatest swordsman, but about honoring the memory of his friend, Kuina. From the very beginning, he’s pushed himself harder than anyone else we’ve seen, and that defeat against Mihawk? That really lit a fire under him. He’s come so far, mastering all three types of Haki, which is incredible, but he still has a long way to go before he can finally surpass Mihawk. I can’t wait to see him get there!
6) Nico Robin’s Dream Will Be Realized After Reaching Laughtale

Robin’s lifelong goal is within reach thanks to her origins. She grew up on Ohara, an island of brilliant scholars dedicated to understanding the ancient language and the secrets hidden within the Poneglyphs. After the World Government destroyed Ohara, Robin was the only one left to continue their work. Throughout her adventures with her crew, she’s discovered more Poneglyphs, bringing her closer to her dream. Once they finally reach Laugh Tale, she’ll uncover the lost history of the world, but whether she chooses to reveal it remains to be seen.
5) Nami’s Might Have to Keep Working Even After the Journey Is Over

Nami wants to map the entire world, which is a huge undertaking. She can only draw a place once she’s seen it herself, and even with all their travels with Luffy, they’ve had to skip many islands. She’s still a long way from finishing, and will likely have to keep working on it even after their adventures end. It’s a remarkably difficult dream, but Nami has the skill and dedication to potentially achieve it.
4) Monkey D. Luffy’s Real Dream Is Still a Mystery

For a long time, fans thought Luffy’s goal was simply to become Pirate King by finding the One Piece at Laughtale. But the author, Oda, has much bigger plans for him. Becoming Pirate King is now seen as just the beginning, a stepping stone to a deeper, still-unknown ambition. We know Luffy shares a secret dream with Gol D. Roger, and it’s one that only he can fulfill.
3) Sanji Is Chasing a Myth

Sanji has a lifelong goal, just like his mentor Zeff, who was unable to achieve it after losing his leg. Sanji dreams of finding the All Blue, a legendary sea where all four oceans converge and every type of marine life exists. Though mentioned a few times in the story, it’s still unconfirmed whether the All Blue is real. Because its location is unknown, Sanji’s dream might be unattainable unless the story reveals more about this mysterious place.
2) Jinbe’s Dream Can’t Be Realized Alone

I’ve been watching Jinbe, and it’s clear he’s dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime – a world where Fish-Men and humans can live together peacefully. It’s a huge task, considering the centuries of prejudice and discrimination Fish-Men have faced, which understandably led to a lot of resentment towards humans. And honestly, it goes both ways; I’ve seen how humans like Nami have suffered because of cruel Fish-Men like Arlong. Queen Otohime started to address this cycle of hatred, and now Jinbe is determined to continue her work. But it’s become clear to me that he can’t do it alone. True peace will only come if both sides work together and genuinely try to understand each other.
1) Tony Tony Chopper May Never Fulfill His Dream

Of all the Straw Hat crew’s ambitions, Chopper’s is arguably the most challenging, and perhaps even impossible. As a brilliant doctor, he dreams of finding cures for every disease in the world. That’s why he’s eager to travel, learn, and expand his medical knowledge. However, some illnesses are likely to remain incurable, and there will always be rare diseases that are never even found. While Chopper’s goal is admirable, it’s a task too great for any one person to achieve.
